I’m sending these off to have enough for the squad cast up in resin, to save a bit of work on trying to get a squad of them all looking the same. Updates as I get them :)

I performed an arm swap on the first Heavy Bolter marine, to bring the weapon up into more of a ‘bringing to bear’ pose, and swapped his arms onto the second heavy marine, who is in more of an advancing pose…

Also finished basic assembly on the remaining two marines:

So now it’s on to the detail work…

Also got the basic assembly done on two more Marines, with bionic arms. The first will be holding a grenade once he has a hand…

And the second, similarly missing hands, just advancing and scanning the nearby shrubbery:

I also realised that the entire squad was just a little too ‘upright’… so I ripped off one guy’s legs, and put him into more of a crouching pose:

Obviously he still needs some gap-filling, and a left hand.

The Vox-pack is made from a Cadian backpack, with the bottom and sides trimmed down and the bottom and vents from a Marine backpack added on.

The auspex is a regular auspex top and base added to a Terminator Thunder Hammer hand.

I have made up this prototype, as a sort of ‘proof of concept’.

The inset is after a little photoshopping to try to show how it will look finished off, as it has a few minor details still to go on.

Started with sanding down the torsos to get them nice and smooth and armour-ish.

I had to go back afterwards and do a little gap filling, where the sanding didn’t flatten out a few small divots, and a couple of the collars still need some attention
Also started detailing the bionic legs:

And then started in on the arms. These are being converted from assorted Terminator arms with the hydraulics and cabling removed, to make them look a little more like regular power armour. Here’s a couple of mock-ups to see how they fit together, with a regular Marine thrown in for scale:

It’s a bit of a relief to find that the bolter arms work… The left hand, in case anyone’s wondering, is from a 2nd-edition Chaos Marine. They had mammoth-sized hands, so work out pretty well for Terminators.

Another commission project… I’m building a squad of Sternguard marines, in a similar style to my old Alpharius embiggening project, although without all the trimmings. These guys will be a bit more businesslike, with unadorned armour and lots of veteran-y kit and bionics.

So, starting with a whole slew of bits:

I began removing extraneous detail from the legs:

One of the design features requested on this job was lengthened bolters, possibly in the style of the M41A Pulse Rifle from Aliens.

So, I did a quick mock-up, to see if I could make something vaguely pulse-rifle-ish that still says ‘bolter’…

Extended the bolter magazine slightly, and added a scope:

And finished cleaning up torso and leg pieces… so here’s a group shot. The plastic tubing on the legs of a few of them will be flished out into bionic legs.

Started filling in the leg armour:

More putty, going straight to the thighs:

Chestplate started:

The hole in the middle is just a locator for a vent which will be going in next.

Added the grill to the chestplate, and started on the helmet. The inset pic sketch (not sure shows the general look I’m aiming for)

Still missing a little detail on the rebreather, and possibly some structural stuff around the eyes, but enough to give a general idea.

And the bodies all have belts…

Bolters coming together (Butt-stocks will be added once they’re sitting in place, as they may need to be sculpted straight onto the arms) … although I did just realise that I’m one short.
