Meanwhile, the Demolisher beside the reservoir backed away from the madly-screaming Lieutenant, but was still swinging its weapons around to bear when a lascannon shot from the Russ covering the objective tore through the Traitor, leaving nothing behind but a few scraps of ceramite and a lingering odour...

The left-most Russ targeted the Corsair bikers again, and this time blasted two of the renegades from their machines, with the third deciding he wasn't getting paid enough for this sort of nonsense and swinging his bike around to head back the way he came.

The Chaos Lord, running full-tilt towards the objective, began muttering prayers to his patron deity and fingering the activation stud on his powerfist. A pink mist began to swirl around his armour, and 5 Daemonettes stepped daintily out onto the pavement around him. At the sight, the Night Lord squad behind a nearby ruin ran out to back up their Lord. Covering their advance, the three missile launchers on the hill sighted on the two Demolishers. While the Demolisher beside the reservoir held up under the barrage, the other was not so lucky. The first Krak Missile shook the tank, knocking the crew from their seats. The second punched straight through the weakened hull and ignited the tank's fuel.

The Chosen and Dreadnought in the centre also advanced towards the objective, while the Plague Marine squad moved forward to screen the Night Lords Lascannon

More reinforcements arrived for the Guard, with a Basilisk grinding its way in beside the Command tank, squeezing in behind some convenient ruins. The Command tank edged forwards a little more, lobbing another AT round at the opposing Predator. The shell tore into the diseased machine, freezing it in place..

Meanwhile another Leman Russ moved in up on the hill to support the second Vanquisher, firing as it came. The shot went wide, with the Marines easily evading the blast.

Down in the centre the Russes all open fire at the approaching Traitors. The hail of battle cannon shots drowns out all other sound momentarily, and as the smoke clears the Chaos Lord counts up his casualties. 3 Night Lords are down from the heavy bolter squad, 1 of the Daemonettes has vanished back to the Warp, and 4 of the mighty Death Guard Chosen have been ripped apart by a close-range blast from the remaining Demolisher.

With their goal growing ever nearer, the Chaos forces in the centre shrug off their casualties and continue to advance, with the Noise Marines at the rear edging over to draw LOS on the middle Russ. On the right flank the Predator and Night Lords concentrate on the Command tank, with a Lascannon blast ripping the Vanquisher cannon from its mounting. Meanwhile the Predators daemonically-altered hull twists itself about, repairing the damage that was preventing it from moving.
