How many fething tanks???
Well, another month has rolled around, and so it was
time for another gaming session here at Club Insaniak. Aside from a round
of smaller games (Captain Bob successfully Cleansing my 1000points of
Necrons and then going on to pound Andarus' Death Guard into runny little
pieces, before finally crashing and burning in a test game of Road Rage)
Captain Bob and I had been discussing the joys of Armoured Companies last
month, and so had decided to give them a whirl on the table, to see how
they fare under the Trial Vehicle Rules. We decided on a Take and Hold
mission, with the Armoured Company defending.
I somehow managed to be woefully unprepared this month,
and so had throw together a 2000 point army list with what I had sitting
in the cabinet. Fine in theory, since I have two separate 1000 point Chaos
lists... but they can't be simply combined, due to organization restrictions.
So, I wound up pilfering extra squads from my Red Corsairs and Imperial
Dragons to get both the points and a few extra heavy weapons into the
army.

Captain Bob instead went for an organized and rather
subtle approach: Buy more Leman Russ models than is good for your mental
health, and shove them all onto the table at once.

The board was to be an urban sprawl (my favorite) but
given the size of the armies we had to improvise a little, and wound up
dragging a couple of small bedside tables out into the gaming room to
support an extra board. Then I proceeded to fill it up with as much urban
terrain as I currently have finished off.

Supply drop as scheduled. Valkyries on-route.
Target zone at grid coordinates 302-456. Suggest retrieval ASAP, as Traitor
forces spotted in vicinity.
Nullo Impedimentum.
++Transmission Ends++

Setup
With various assorted rattles, bumps and gurgles, the
advance elements of the Armoured Company moved into the target area, spreading
out to encircle the objective. Secure in their armoured shells, the Guardsmen
rested, awaiting the arrival of the remainder of their forces.

Appearing as suddenly as if they had just walked on from
the edge of a board, a vast Chaos horde materialized on the outskirts
of the ruined city. Their centre was held by black-armoured troops in
filthy, slime-encrusted armour. Advancing (somewhat unsteadily) alongside
them were strangely repellant marines in hideous purple and yellow armour.
Out to either side were squads of pointy, dark-blue Traitor marines, and
on the distant flanks were Red Corsairs and marines in strange shimmering
green armour, backed up by putrid tanks spewing out noxious fumes, dropping
stray armour plates and just generally lowering property values with their
sheer ugliness...
