I started my Red Corsairs way back in the grim darkness of 2nd edition. Since there was no model for Huron Blackheart at the time, I (rather badly) converted one up based on the Blood Angels’ Commander Dante, but was never entirely happy with it and eventually ripped it apart for bitz. When I updated [...]

I’ve completed basic assembly on the Commtech for the Sternguard squad. The pose is a little rough, as his hand is only tacked on at the moment… I’ll adjust it when I’m ready to glue everything in place and sculpt on the missing detail.

Continuing my crusade to get all of my miniatures photographed (and hampered somewhat by a dodgy LCD monitor which leaves me wondering if the colours and contrast of these pics is anywhere approaching what they should look like), here’s the next old miniature dusted off and photographed:

Made a little more progress on my Imperial Dragons squad, adding the flames to their right shoulder pads: It’s been quite a few years since I did any of these, and in that time GW have changed their washes… so I’m not sure if the roughness of these is down to my rusty technique or [...]

Over the years, with software changes and camera upgrades, there are a few bits and pieces that have either come and gone from the gallery, or simply never been added in in the first place. I’m hoping over the next few weeks to work my way through the cabinet and add those missing minis back [...]

One member of the Sternguard squad will be a comm specialist, equipped with a vox-pack and auspex (just for show). The Vox-pack is made from a Cadian backpack, with the bottom and sides trimmed down and the bottom and vents from a Marine backpack added on. The auspex is a regular auspex top and base [...]

I picked up a copy of Bloodbowl when it was re-released way back in the late 90′s, but after playing frantically for a couple of months, it just wound up sitting on a shelf gathering dust, with one and a half minis painted and too many other distractions stopping me from getting back to it. [...]

Because they Aaaargh! Finally finished this guy off. He was started several years ago, as a birthday present for my (now) wife, and given to her unpainted so she could decide whether she wanted to paint him herself or not. She went with the ‘or not’ option, and so after a bit of a wait, [...]

A little more Sternguard tinkering. The buyer wanted a Heavy Bolter that looks a little more like a conventional heavy machine gun. I have made up this prototype, as a sort of ‘proof of concept’. The inset is after a little photoshopping to try to show how it will look finished off, as it has [...]

Got a little more work done on the True-scale Sternguard… Started with sanding down the torsos to get them nice and smooth and armour-ish.
